One of the key issues in installing any PC solution in a vehicle is making sure that it is in compliance with the Road Transport regulations. The regulations state that any computer screen facing the driver must be restricted to display only applications deemed as an "Aids to Navigation". The definition of this is GPS navigation, job schedules, CCT and Rear View Camera display.
Therefore Legislation and best practice OH&S demand that vehicle mounted computer screens MUST be fitted with screen blanking technology to reduce the risk of driver distraction.
Screen Sentry emulates a Windows service application, and is started automatically when the computer detects that is has been docked. While Screen Sentry application is started it is only activated when it detects that the vehicle is in motion.
It detects that the vehicle is in motion by one of the following two ways:
You can fit Screen Sentry into any vehicle type and any computer as long as it runs Windows (XP, Vista, Windows7).
It was developed by a company that has extensive experience installing on-board computers for a wide range of clients with differing needs. After trialling several products and working out what works best in the real world we've developed a product that works and our experience means your installation will run smoothly.
Other screen blanking products make it difficult to switch between programs or cause interference with running applications. This results in frustration and actually increases driver distraction. Screen Sentry is the only product that provides a switching interface that your drivers will be happy to use.
Once you have decided what you want your drivers to view (in accordance with the legislation) we'll help you to configure the Screen Sentry application accordingly.
The Screen Sentry sensors are then typically installed by the installer of your on-board computer or a licensed auto-electrician. Alternatively we offer full assistance if required.
